Base Jumping Insurance

The extreme sport of BASE Jumping has become more and more popular over the recent years. The name is an acronym which stands for Building, Antenna, Span and Earth. This is the starting point which a typical BASE Jump would normally begin with. The BASE Jumper will often jump from a fixed object with a specially designed parachute designed specifically for rapid deployment.

All extreme sports have their risks. BASE Jumping is arguably at the top of the pile due to its nature. Many think that it is too extreme to be classed as a sport and think it would be more suited in the stunt category. Base Jumping is so incredibly dangerous that it is actually illegal in many places.

Obviously Totally Sports Insurance do not condone jumping from an object without permission. We would advise that you make sure before you jump that you make the necessary checks to insure that you are staying within the law. You will need to also make sure you have taken out your personal insurance policy with Totally Sports Insurance. We can tailor make a package to suit all of your needs. With cover that starts from as little as £1.73 a week, get covered today and continue to enjoy your sports without any worries.

A study of BASE jumpers in 2012 reported that 72 percent of jumpers "had witnessed death or serious injury of other participants in the sport, 43 percent (of) jumpers had suffered a significant BASE jump injury, and 76 percent had at least one 'near miss' incident (an incident which would most probably result in serious injury or fatality but was avoided), "study author Dr. Omer Mei-Dan, a BASE jumper and sports medicine doctor wrote in his textbook, "Adventure and Extreme Sports Injuries."

Fatalities and serious injuries are very much a reality in the world of Base Jumping. It is not necessary to go into detail the risks that are associated with this extreme sport. But if you are going to have an accident you will want to be covered incase the worst happens. We offer an income protection policy which can pay up to 60% of your income from the day of your accident as well as a life and critical illness policy (with the ability to add a fracture benefit). We even cover you whilst you are taking part in other sports. So if you like to BASE jump but do not take part that often, we can still offer you a package that will cover you for other sports that you may take part in.
